How to search: Search for a property and then click on the 'Filter Results' button. Zoopla has a pet-friendly property filter. We have highlighted the property websites and online agencies below because we believe they make it easy to search for pet-friendly properties, which takes some of the stress out of house hunting with a pet. The aim of our Lets with Pets scheme is to help pet owners find rented homes with their pets. Letting agencies are often reluctant to help pet owners and many landlords still add a 'no pets' clause to their standard tenancy agreement. I'm sticking by my beef with Jack Lingo for not sending someone over to fix a fridge full of rapidly spoiling food, even on Thanksgiving - a working fridge is a basic requirement.Finding a property that accepts pets can be very difficult. We plan to rent in Lewes next year and will just go with another rental agency and make sure the appliaces work the day before. And perhaps it was an exaggeration that we spent the whole day packing the fridge with ice, but it stressed my dad out the entire day and there were quite a few runs to 7-11, not something one would choose to do on one's vacation. We've had plenty of mishaps but they were always quickly dealt with, even on holidays. We rent houses several times a year in various places, and in our experience, the rental agency has its own policies on what to do about nonworking appliances - they do not go by the whims of the owner. According to Jack Lingo, they never check the applicances. The appliances should have been checked before renting what is adverstised as a "luxury" property over Thanksgiving, when a lot of food is consumed/cooking done. It was the owner who was unwilling to pay the holiday cost to repair or replace the fridge, but it's the first time we've had a rental agency not follow basic maintenance upkeep based on the owner's wishes. Yet I hope you can get them to reconsider. Sure, in good faith, you would certainly think you would get a refund in such a situation, but from a legal standpoint, your agent is, unfortunately, probably correct. What you need to do is ask "if I have a problem on a holiday will it be fixed immediately?"Īlso, since this thread has been revived, I'm wondering if the OP ever got any results? It's very unfortunate when a natural disaster disrupts vacation plans. But the OWNER should have compensated you.Īvoiding Lingo will not make you immune from this in the future. You're only entitled to a full refund for any day or part day when you are unable to use the property. For what it's worth, I would not have been willing to remedy this on a holiday either, but would have discounted the rent for the cost of the ice and perhaps $25. This is a very disappointing experience? None of this is the agent's fault. Fridge quits on a holiday, UNEXPECTEDLY, replaced next day. Oven not working, UNEXPECTEDLY, repaired promptly.Ģ. Really? No time whatsoever to do anything else? Entire day ruined? Jack Lingo is to blame?ġ. ![]() Julie: ".we spent the whole day packing the fridge with ice." Nice customer service! I would never rent from them again. One of the Lingos himself told me I should stop fighting since my lawyer bill would be higher than the deposit. Screw them.I pushed the envelope and had my attorney contact them.we got our money back with no apologies from Lingo for the inconvenience after a long ckily my attorney is a family member but it seemed they thought we would just go away. ![]() It became increasing clear that Lingo would side with property owner in any dispute and they threatened to black ball me and my family from future rentals in Rehoboth if we pushed the envelope. Lingo paid them from our deposit without my approval or any inspection from a Lingo representative or at least pictures to verify. The house's owner had all the upolstery in the rental steam cleaned and forwarded the bill to Lingo. We objected wholeheartedly since we spent half a day cleaning the house before we left and I demanded to see the itemized bill for cleaning. When we asked where our deposit was after a couple of weeks after our vacation, we were told that the house required additional cleaning and they used our deposit for such. A few years back we rented from Lingo in the Pines. ![]()
